Forest Edge Country House is located in Blackwood,
a picturesque village nestled in the eucalyptus-covered hills of Wombat
State Forest.
The rooms have been beautifully decorated
with quality soft furnishing and genuine antiques and artworks to complement
the history of this unique Victorian country house circa 1861.
Centrally located, you can dine just a
short stroll away at the local pub, restaurant and cafe or self cater in the
fully equipped country kitchen.
The
House and Garden
With
an open plan design the kitchen is adjacent to a luxurious lounge reading
room, where you can sit comfortably in the natural light from windows
overlooking serene views of the garden and the forest vistas.
In the large open living and dining room
you can relax and talk, read, watch complementary DVD movies on the large
digital TV, eat and drink in comfort, while enjoying the beautiful picture
window views or access to the deck through French doors.
There is a downstairs conference room which
is complemented by a well-equipped business centre with wireless broadband
connection, separate landline and fax machine. The room has an adjacent
refreshment kitchen to ensure the tea & coffee can flow all day long with
access to the upstairs bedrooms, kitchen and living room.
The house also has a fully equipped laundry
and a treatment room, where you can arrange a private visit from an
experienced local masseuse.
Established in 1862, the picturesque
stepped garden has several heritage trees including a 150 year old Irish
Strawberry tree and a weeping elm of magnificent proportions. You can find
seclusion and peace in many of the shady sitting areas, whilst enjoying
magnificent views of the Wombat State Forest, which adjoins the property.
Ponder in the rose garden, enjoy a constitutional stroll through the various
garden rooms or reflect under the shade of the sage old Blackwood tree.
Native birdwatchers will also delight in the
abundant birdlife – colourful parrots, rosellas and cockatoos, finches and
currawongs. You can also watch the kangaroos feed in the bottom of the
garden at dusk, especially in the winter.
